Local Companies Rally Behind Downtown Festival
Investing in Greater Lafayette's Quality of Life Still a Good Business Decision
Lafayette, Ind. - During these challenging times, local companies continue to support our community and quality of life initiatives. Dancing in the Streets sponsored by IBEW Local 668 is quickly approaching on July 18. For the 18th straight year, local companies are supporting Downtown?s return to the days of hot rods and rock ?n roll. Companies who have been contributing to Greater Lafayette for almost 100 years to our newest neighbors are making Dancing in the Streets possible for its 20,000 attendees as the major fundraiser for Downtown revitalization programs.
The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 668 is the headlining sponsor for Dancing in the Streets for the third straight year. Next year will mark the 100th anniversary of Local 668?s founding in Lafayette. During its almost century of existence, Local 668 has contributed to hundreds of causes in and around the community, but especially Downtown.
"We love Downtown," says Larry Spencer of IBEW Local 668. "We enjoy being a part of Dancing in the Streets because it?s a festival our members enjoy and it?s a cause we fully support. No matter the economic condition, it?s still important to be involved and to give back to the community."
Greater Lafayette Commerce helped the community welcome its newest neighbor in May and already the company is giving back. Alorica will open its Lafayette contact center next month, but the hiring process has begun for their 600 new jobs. Alorica is sponsoring American Idol finalist Amanda Overmyer's performance at Dancing in the Streets.
"A great community and great music, Alorica is excited to be a part of it," says Justin Payne, Site Coordinator. "An opportunity for us to familiarize ourselves with the community as we continue to screen and interview applicants for positions is a worthy cause."
Alorica is accepting and screening applications through the REACH Center. Applications can be submitted through www.IndianaCareerConnect.com.
Dancing in the Streets is also getting key support from two new major sponsors: Old National Bank and TBIRD Design Services Corporation. Old National Bank is the Checkered Flag Prize Sponsor and is proud to increase their support over last year.
"There are a lot of positive initiatives in our community right now and it?s important to support and celebrate it," says Bob Smith, President of Old National Bank. "Dancing in the Streets is a great event and Old National Bank is proud to support Downtown revitalization projects."
First time sponsor TBIRD Design Services Corporation sees firsthand every day the benefits of investing in Downtown as the engineering and design firm on the Downtown Streetscape Project among others. TBIRD Design Services Corp. is supporting Dancing in the Streets as Cruise sponsor and will lead the annual car and motorcycle cruise in their own classic vehicle a 1969 Dodge Charger.
"We at TBIRD Design Services Corp. have witnessed the impact of Downtown revitalization programs as a company located Downtown and as a partner. We are honored to have the opportunity to support these programs and enjoy a fun evening Downtown with great music, cool cars and food from local restaurants," says Tim Balensiefer, president of TBIRD Design.
