Greater Lafayette Commerce Accepts Three Mid America Economic Development Council Awards in Chicago

Greater Lafayette Commerce was recognized by peers and site selectors at the Mid America Economic Development Council’s (MAEDC) “The Best of the Midwest” Awards Ceremony in Chicago on December 7, 2009.

 

Greater Lafayette Commerce received three awards for economic development marketing in the small market (annual marketing budget less than $100,000) category.

 

Economic Trends, Greater Lafayette Commerce’s semi-annual report on economic activity in Greater Lafayette received first place in the newsletter category. The judges appreciated the amount of important information in the electronic newsletter. In the general purpose marketing category, Greater Lafayette Commerce’s Discover Magazine was honored with a first place. The biennial magazine highlights the business community and quality of life.  Lafayette Printing led the production and printing of the magazine. 

 

The MidWest Indiana Site Database, which is linked on Greater Lafayette Commerce’s homepage at www.GreaterLafayetteCommerce.com, won second place for website. The site features more than 150 properties from a nine-county region and includes demographics and business reports.

 

Greater Lafayette Commerce’s Director of Economic Development Jody Hamilton was in Chicago to accept the awards.

“To come home with three awards is a tremendous honor,” says Hamilton. “This validates our efforts in marketing Greater Lafayette and MidWest Indiana as the place of choice to live, work and does business.”

 

MAEDC represents economic developers from 10 states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Board members representing the 10 states and site selectors judged the applicants on effectiveness of reaching stated goals, quality of content, visual impact, design, uniqueness, innovation and originality. Award winners will be featured in the January 2010 issue of Site Selection Magazine.
